Tyrone Morgan

Tyrone “Ty” Morgan was a Black American lawyer from Baltimore, Maryland. He was the older son of Alexander and Dinah Morgan and the older brother of Devon. He attended Georgetown University and Georgetown University Law Center, where he served on the law review and held a prestigious summer internship in 2014.

Early Life and Education

Ty grew up in the affluent Roland Park neighborhood of Baltimore. He later attended Georgetown University as an undergraduate and continued at Georgetown Law.

Ty completed his J.D., became a lawyer, and later opened Coleman & Morgan LLP, a law firm specializing in medical law, with Parker.

Health

Ty was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder around his sophomore year of college after experiencing panic attacks. By 2014, he took anti-anxiety medication and attended therapy twice each week. His parents did not know about his treatment at that time.

Ty also experienced chronic migraines accompanied by nausea. Parker learned to recognize his symptoms and support him during attacks.

Summer 2014

In Summer 2014, Ty recognized that Devon’s withdrawal and loss of interest were signs of depression rather than laziness. After Devon threw his phone in response to messages from Shanice, Ty checked on him, named what he had observed, and disclosed his own anxiety diagnosis, medication, therapy, and panic attacks.

The following day, Kelsey brought Devon home after he became ill from the heat. Ty found Devon unresponsive in his bedroom and alerted Dinah. He remained involved while Dinah checked Devon’s temperature and gave him Gatorade, and he brought Devon a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The incident became a turning point in the brothers’ relationship.

Ty and Devon were nearly seven years apart in age. Their different developmental stages and Ty’s years away at college limited their closeness before 2014. Ty’s disclosure during Devon’s crisis created a more honest relationship between them.

Alexander and Dinah Morgan

Ty’s parents regarded his academic success with pride. In 2014, he concealed his anxiety treatment from them while continuing to meet their expectations. They later accepted Parker as part of the family.
